Who needs a pool inspection?
Did you know that pool safety certificates for non-shared pools are only valid for 2 years from the date of issue?
Under the new Queensland laws, a pool owner is required to contact a Pool Safety Inspector (PSI) to have their pool complied and certified:
Before the sale of a property
Before the rental or lease of a property
Before the change of each tenant or rental agreement
Penalties for non-compliance
Local governments have the power to investigate compliance with pool safety standards and can issue fines.
If you don't comply with pool safety standards, local governments can issue on-the-spot fines of $934 for individuals and $2669 for companies. The maximum penalty a court can impose is $22,019.
If you fail to register your pool, QBCC can issue penalties which includes an on-the-spot fine of $266 for individuals or $800 for companies. The court can impose a maximum penalty of up to $2669.
Our inspection process
Step 1.
Ensure your pool is registered on the QBCC registration site – QBCC Pool Register
Step 2.
Our Inspectors will forward you a pre inspection form to complete online before with a list of questions in relation to your upcoming pool inspection.
Step 3.
Our pool Inspectors will carry out an inspection of your pool in compliance with the government requirements – during this process they take photographs of the site from all angles prior to the inspection.
Measure and test the pool gates, boundary fences and barriers with measuring tapes by hand and by force using a force gauge to required pressures of (150N, 250N & 330N)
Note – During the testing process some older or nonconforming pool fences may break or damage under force and will be required to be repaired to a safe barrier regulation at the owner’s expense under the pool safety Act and Regulations before commencing re-inspection and compliance.
